SPRINGFIELD – Joseph A. Hernandez, Jr., 78, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026

He was born March 2, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan. Joe grew up in St. Mary’s, Pennsylvania and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School. He was employed at Fiat-Allis until their closure. He enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. Hernandez, Sr. and Bernice Haney Chase; and sister, Vicky Auman.

He is survived by his children, Holly and Bryan Hernandez; daughter-in-law, April; grandchildren, Trebor, Shylo, Hannah, Janey, Devon, Elijah and Malachi; great-granddaughter, Selena; siblings, Jeff, Chris and Jill Hernandez; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and companion, Stephanie Stengel and her family.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the Northenders VFW 10302, 2349 Stockyard Road, Springfield.
