SPRINGFIELD, IL – Joseph M. Krebs, 54, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born May 30, 1966, to Carl Joseph and Patricia (Tacilauskas) Krebs.  He married Darla Shephard on January 18, 2014, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Springfield.

Joseph was formerly employed by E. Thomas Publishing Company, the U.S. Postal Service, and was currently employed by Landmark Ford.

Joe lived a life devoted to his family, his friends, and his faith.  As a man who truly loved intensely from the heart, his warm smile endeared him to all who knew him, and he had a ready hug or warm handshake for all.  He was well-known for his kind-hearted, gentle demeanor.  Joe was a friend to all and will be sorely missed.  Joe was a proud member of the North Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, baptized March 20, 2011.  He dedicated himself to preaching the good news of the scriptures and helping those he met come to know their loving creator.  He made an impression on everyone who knew him.  Affectionately known as "the candy man", young children at the Kingdom Hall would excitedly search his pockets for sweet treats.  As a firm supporter and friend to young and old alike, Joe made a name for himself as a true friend who showed love all the time, a brother in times of distress.  Truly Joe was a man that all could rely on, depend on, and who would give his utmost to help anyone who needed it.  In his spare time, he loved being outdoors; Joe could often be found fishing, watching the wildlife, or working with plants and flowers to beautify his surroundings.  He loved to help his family and friends with outdoor projects and also spent a good deal of his time caring for the grounds and building at the Kingdom Hall.

Joe is survived by his wife, Darla; daughter, Courtney Krebs (fiancé, Jake Davis), and children Bethany (Matthew) Thompson, Jessalyn (Korey) Scott, Melissa Fouke, Justin (Davina) Fouke; grandchildren, Piper, Penny, and Parker Thompson, and Dean Scott; parents, Carl and Patricia Krebs; brothers, Kenny (Kathy) Krebs, Brian Krebs, Gary (Terri) Krebs; sister, Christine (Adam) McNear; as well as numerous great uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Revelation 21:4 "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.  The former things have passed away."

A memorial service on Zoom will be held December 20, 2020 at 1:00 p.m.  Friends and family are invited to attend the Zoom service using the following information.
