SPRINGFIELD – June Rose, 81, of Springfield, died at 2:13am, Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

She was born June 30, 1943, in Springfield, to Bendix and Martha (Schmidt) Hoffman. She married Ronald Rose, on October 27, 1963, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Springfield. They had two daughters, Colette (Trent) Knoles and Heather (Russ) Witmer of Athens, both survive; also surviving are grandchildren, Jessica (North Joffe-Nelson) Knoles of Urbana; Emily (Austin) Smith of Sherman; Lucas (significant other, Elizabeth Haaff) Witmer of St. Louis, Mo.; and Jenna Witmer; two great-grandchildren, Leo and Rowan Smith; a sister, Carolyn Lippa, of Springfield; a sister-in-law, Sue Ames, of Springfield; and several nieces and a nephew.

June was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Janet Hoffman; brother-in-law, Ron Ames; and her husband, Ronald Rose, who passed away in January 2024.

June attended school in Springfield, graduating from Springfield High. She was a homemaker when her daughters were young. Later, she worked several jobs, including secretary for the Regional Superintendent for Mason, Menard, and Logan Counties and as a clerk typist for the State of Illinois, where she retired after many years of dedicated service.

June had strong faith and was a member of the Athens Christian Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and living on Lake Petersburg, where she spent most of her life, taking trips with friends and family, and attending her grandchildren's sporting and school events. She and Ron loved spending their winters in Sarasota, Florida, catching up with their Supper Club, and playing board and card games, especially with their pinochle club. June was a lover of Elvis and was his number one fan, and she instilled a love for him in her daughters. June also loved a good joke and a good meal, often remarking she was "born to eat."

Her family will remember her fondly and will miss her unconditional love and sense of humor.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2025, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home with Reverend Ken Gennicks officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
