Karen Lee Jaynes, 77, passed away on January 3, 2026.

She was born on September 11, 1948, in Springfield, Illinois, to Donald and Yvonne Blake, the oldest of five siblings.

Karen graduated from Lanphier High School in 1966; she then went on to attend LLCC.   Karen lived a life defined by creativity, intention, and style. Decorating was not just a hobby for her; it was her life's passion. She had an extraordinary eye for interior design and spent decades transforming homes, storefronts, and even Christmas presents into expressions of beauty. There's really no way to put into words the depth of her creativity; it was something to experience. Her beloved Santa collection was a reflection of her joy, whimsy, and love for the magic of the season. From the necklaces around her neck, to the shoes on her feet, Karen was meticulous about fashion. She was funky, spunky, and unapologetically herself. She was a true hippie spirit with a deep appreciation for vintage and thrifted treasures. If decorating was her passion, then gathering was her gift.  Karen loved nothing more than sitting at a beautifully set table with family, laughing for hours, surrounded by warmth, stories, and connection.  She especially cherished long drives with her husband, David. She would ride anywhere with him, but their favorite outings included eagle watching and stopping for a hamburger and milkshake which are simple joys that meant everything. Although she was known as Karen by most, she was called "Mema" by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, a title she wore proudly.

Karen is survived by her husband of 58 years, David Jaynes; her children, Jennifer Ishmael (Michael), Courtney Dennis, and Jason Jaynes; five beloved grandchildren; Kayleigh Baugher (Brent), Madeline Ishmael (Joey Otero), Valerie Ishmael-Weir (TJ Weir), Jack Dennis and Jhett Benton; and five great-grandchildren; Raynor, Rowan, Sebastian, Juniper, and Soli.

At Karen's request, there will be no formal memorial service.
