SPRINGFIELD – Kathy Irene Harris, 71, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

She was born January 21, 1955, to Oren Wilson and Lula Irene (Maberry) Winchester; both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her grandchildren, Xander Charles Harris and Emily Renee Laughlin-Barber; and siblings, Delores Spencer, Ron Winchester, Shirley Whicker and Don Winchester.

Kathy was employed as an executive secretary with the State of Illinois and later was employed as a medical transcriber for the Springfield Clinic. She enjoyed making and selling bath salts and sugar scrubs. She also enjoyed crafting, making wreaths, antiquing, going to garage sales and playing gin rummy. Kathy was a pink flamingo fanatic.

She is survived by her children, Tyler James Harris, Kimberli Rae Harris, Christina Harris-Barber and Ronald D. Harris; grandchildren, William Barber, Devin Laughlin, Keuper J. Harris, Bryce A. Harris, Dallas L. Brownlee, Dakota R. Brownlee and Dalton R. Brownlee; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
