Keri Angela Walters, 57, passed away on September 26, 2022.
She was born April 25, 1965, in Chicago Heights, IL to Gerald and Barbara (Emery) Glaub. She married Kevin Walters on April 22, 1989, in Springfield.
Keri graduated from Illinois State University with her Masters in Reading Education. She started her teaching career at Chester-East Lincoln in 1988 where she continued to teach for the next 30 years. She then continued her teaching at School District 186 in Springfield, retiring in the summer of 2022. Keri had a passion for teaching and considered herself lucky for having a job she loved. One of her favorite quotes, which was from the Wizard of Oz, was "In life it's not about where you go but it's about the people you meet along the way."
Keri is survived by her three daughters, Grace, Emery and Anna; ex-husband, Kevin Walters; mother, Barbara Glaub; four brothers, Scott (Sue) Glaub, Vincent Glaub, Ryan Glaub, and Alex Glaub (Liz Hartley); sister, Lori (Tom) Kohlrus; several nieces and nephews, Eric (Kara) Glaub - Simon and Norah Glaub, Jennifer (Nick) Zellers - Hailey Glaub, Gavin Biddle, and Jordyn Zellers, Anthony (Ally) Kohlrus - Nadia and Vincent Kohlrus, Christine (Brian) Carter - Nathalia, Mayerli, and Sofia Lopez, Amber Glaub, Kimberly Glaub, and Lane Glaub; and several cousins and close friends she will always cherish. Dana and Randy Berkshire, Chris, Lisa and Ada Kurtz were like family to her, as were Paul and Jennifer Moody.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Glaub; sister-in-law, Orbie Glaub; maternal grandparents, Denzel and Leila Emery; and paternal grandparents, Robert and Ruth Glaub.
A memorial gathering will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home.
