SPRINGFIELD, IL – Kristin Marie Rees, 35, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Edwardsville Nursing and Rehab.

She was born November 23, 1982, to Tyre and Sandra "Sami" (Hofman) Rees. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Alma Rees and James and Norma Hofman.

Kristin was a 2001 graduate of Springfield High School. She attended Lincoln Land Community College and received her bachelor's degree from MacMurray College. She was a lifelong member of Elliott Avenue Baptist Church and member of St. Andrew's Society. She had a smile that could brighten a room. She enjoyed working with children, especially Elliott Avenue Baptist Church youth.

She is survived by her parents, Tyre Rees and Sami (William) Spence; sister, Kelsey Rees (Caryn Shermetaro); and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be held 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Elliott Avenue Baptist Church, with Reverend Cana Roth officiating. Private family inurnment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
