SPRINGFIELD, IL – Kurt A. Netznik, 62, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022, at his home.

Kurt was born February 27, 1960, to George Jacob Netznik, a machinist and mayor of Grandview, IL and Patricia (Williams) Netznik, a stay at home mother that was formally employed as a Telephone Operator at Illinois Bell and a Doctor's Assistant. Mr. Netznik was preceded in death by his father; an uncle, Ron Williams; and step-brothers, Ronald Lee Cravens and Randy Allen Cravens

Kurt attended church and school at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Enos Elementary School, Lanphier High School, and Lakeland Community College amongst other academic facilities.

Kurt was formerly employed as a machinist at Illini Tool & Die, employed as a welder by Diamond Star Motors, sole proprietor of Immanuel Artisans Mosaics. He was an Eagle Scout, a DSM softball team pitcher, guitarist, as well as a hardcore Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Blackhawks and Fighting Illini fan. A member of UAW local 2488 and Carpenters' Local 16. Above all else he was an ardent Christian.
He is survived by his three children, Kurt A. Netznik II, Amanda McCarty, and Rachael Netznik, their mother Cheryl Netznik (partner, Scott Young); three grandchildren, Alexus Phelps, Haley McCarty and Ariel Netznik; two great-grandchildren, Oliver Phelps and Emery Gibson; mother, Patricia (Barry) Dopp; aunt, Angie (Jerry) Wright of Florida; brother, Eric Netznik; sister, Jill Netznik; sister, Shelly File of Las Vegas, NV; step-brother, Brian Cravens of California; and several nieces and nephews, including
Jason Britz, Heather Jones, Steven Netznik, Susan Williams, Aaron Netznik, Dustin Monroe, Randi Lynn File, Misi File, Vincenz Moisa and Hunter Moisa; a long list of grand-nieces and grand-nephews
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2750 E. Sangamon Ave., Springfield, with Pastor James Stuenkel officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
