SPRINGFIELD – Larry Wayne Hayes, 80, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Villa Healthcare East.

He was born October 6, 1945, to Wesley V. and Dora M. (Mayes) Hayes. He married Karen Kay Bailey in Loami in 1990. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Kathy Brockman, Leona Hedrick Buchanan and Doris Laing.

Larry was a member of Local 916 and retired from Wonder Bread after 38 years of service. He loved his family and enjoyed traveling and history

He is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, David (Debbie) Hayes, Mark (Robin) Hayes, Scott Hayes and Joey (Jenny) Hayes; daughter, Natalie (Brandon) Drendel; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Vernon "Bud" (Patti) Hayes; sisters, Marilyn "Sue" (John) Mount and Sandy Murphy; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Roselawn Memorial Park with Pastor Larry Hanson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
