SPRINGFIELD – LaVena Roach, 93, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

She was born October 9, 1930 to Almond Ernest and Clara Bell (Sexton) Walkup.  She married Roxie Lee Roach on June 25, 1950 in Springfield.  He preceded her in death in 2013.  She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Stella Thomas; and granddaughter, Kayla Suzette Roach.

LaVena had worked at National Food Store, Mel-O-Cream Donuts and District 186. She was a member of Together Church.

She is survived by her children, Brenda (Rusty) Brammer, Rocky (Annette) Roach and Tim (Sheila) Roach of Tennessee; grandchildren, Ron Lowe, Matthew (Grace) Lowe, Christy (Jason) Gillaspie and Brittany Roach; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Jeanette Landis and Marilyn Nash; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home, with Pastor Doug Morrow officiating. Inurnment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
