SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS - Lawrence J. "Joe" Zukas , Jr., passed away Tuesday , May 21, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 27, 1962 to Lawrence Zukas, Sr., and Wanda Tanner Volz, both of whom preceded him in death.
Joe previously worked at Bud Allen Plastics where he began his career in injection molding. He was currently employed as a machinist at Caterpillar and previously worked at NUDO Products as a manager of the Injection - Molding Division. He was a member of the Boys of Illinois Motorcycle Club and he carried his FOID card proudly.
Joe's grandparents played a huge part in his upbringing, especially his grandfather, Charlie. He taught Joe to hunt and fish, as well as many trades such as plumbing that he used throughout his life. He loved hunting, fishing, boating, riding his Harley Davidson and tinkering around in his garage. He was a diehard NASCAR fan. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson.
He is survived by his partner, Bonita Dillon; his daughter, Laken Zukas (Zach Waide); grandson, Oliver Waide; sister, Brenda Reynolds (Ed Reynolds) and three nieces.
In keeping with Joe's wishes, his family will celebrate his life privately with a family burial in Roselawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Guns Save Life.
