Obituary

CHATHAM, IL – Lois D. Koenig, 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, February 18, 2019.

She was born August 15, 1925, to Leonard and Elsie (England) DeLong. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James (Roberta) DeLong; sister, Louella (Charlie) McIntyre; son-in-law, Darrell Lott; and Lawrence Koenig.

Lois was previously employed by Illinois Bell as a switchboard operator and retired from Dickey-john in 1987, enjoying 30 years of retirement. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of King's Daughters and a founding member of the Nightingale Circle. Lois loved to cook for her family and was famous for her homemade noodles. She loved her jewelry, enjoyed reading and cherished the book, Little Women. She loved her cats and dogs and always fed the outside animals-birds, deer and squirrels. She enjoyed watching Downton Abbey and Gunsmoke. She played the oboe in high school. She cherished family vacations in Destin, Florida. Lois was a very kind person who always had a positive outlook on life and will be dearly missed by her family.

She is survived by her children, Nancy Lott and James "Jake" Koenig; and grandchildren, Christelle (Matthew) Jackson, Daniel Lott, Kaitlin Koenig and Jessica Koenig.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at noon, Friday, February 22, 2019, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
