SPRINGFIELD, IL – Lynette M. Blankenship, 82, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born March 11, 1939, to Raymond and Alice (Rehwaldt) Hughes. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Donald and Robert "Joe" Hughes.

Lynette worked for Honeywell-Hobbs before later retiring from Burlington Coat Factory. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bootkickers and Route 66 Car Club. She enjoyed traveling, riding horses, playing bass guitar and showing off her classic car. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Charles "Chuck" (Michelle) Blankenship and Bobbie Jean Evans; grandchildren, Austin, Audrey, Cody and Bobby; great-granddaughter, Abigail; siblings, Dick (Ann) Hughes, Marilyn Hamilton, Helen Fehrholtz, Wayne (Elaine) Hughes, Pat Bradbury and Jackie (Kenny) Scott; her beloved dog, Sarge; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
