SPRINGFIELD, IL – Marcia "Marcy" Ireene Atwood, 75, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at her home.

She was born November 30, 1946, in Chicago, to Eugene and Ireene (Schlott) Matys, both of whom preceded her in death.

Marcy was a legal secretary prior to her retirement. She enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Robin (Corey) Richardson; twelve grandchildren, Aleesha Atwood, Sabree Bakari, Makayla Atwood, Mariah (John) Ashford, Damonya McNear, Lillie Clark, Dalila Clark, Roman Richardson, Sidneigh Richardson, Brysen Clark, Corey Richardson, Jr. and Quinten Richardson; two great-granddaughters, Malaya Atwood and Parker Ashford; and her former husband, James R. Atwood.

A memorial gathering will be held from 1 – 2 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Bishop Anthony Curtis officiating. To view the service live, please CLICK HERE
