PETERSBURG – Margaret Ann Black, 93, passed away Friday, January 2, 2026, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home.

She was born March 5, 1932, to William J. and Cathryn (Casey) Chestnut. She married William Alic Black, Jr. on July 12, 1952 at Third Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers; and a son, Art Black, at age 3.

Margaret was a 50 year plus member of Third Presbyterian Church. She loved to go to garage sales with her two neighbors, loved plants and fixing up her yard and planting flowers. She loved watching her children play cornhole and her grandchildren play sports. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

She is survived by her children, Robert E. Black (Carolyn Layman) and Bonnie (Mike) Patterson; grandchildren, Robby (Libby) Black, Ryan (Monse) Black, Griffin (Jessica) Patterson, Logan Patterson (Natasha Ahmed) and Lathan Patterson; great-grandchildren, Ellie, Indy, Averie and Nolan; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2026, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Animal Protective League.
