RIVERTON, IL – Margaret O. Shephard, 87, died Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at St. John's Hospital.

She was born May 16, 1932, to Ollie A. and Margaret (MacGirvin) Wright. She married Wayne A. Shephard on May 19, 1949, in Springfield. He preceded her in death in 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harry and Millard Wright; sister, LouAlice Neher and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Joy.

She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses North Congregation. She was a wonderful caregiver to her family. Hospitality is a mark of a true Christian and Margaret was a shining example. She opened her home to everyone, traveling overseers, pioneers, family, broken-hearted ones, children and friends. Like the faithful sister, Lydia, "She just made us come."

She is survived by her children, Karen (Bobby) Powers, Wayne Shephard, Jr., Leslie (Kit) Shephard, Cheryl (Gene) Beshears, Darla (Joe) Krebbs, Nathan (Theresa) Shephard, Stephen Shephard, Aaron (Alyssa) Shephard and Sommer (Brett) Bowman; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Maron (Roberta) Wright and Merele (Sandy) Wright; six sisters, Cirrelda Marsh, Emily Cook, Helen Renaker, Clara (Earl) Austin and Sharon (Edward) Kushmer; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2019, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3076 Normandy Rd. Springfield, with Chris Harris officiating.
