SPRINGFIELD – Mary Jane Grant, 89, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Carlinville on April 16, 1936, to George and Mildred (Carroll) Nance, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Jack S. Grant on October 13, 2001; he preceded her in death on December 8, 2024. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Tom Nance, Don Nance, Jerry Nance and Karen Harbaugh.

Mary worked in the nursing field for more than 25 years, caring for the sick and elderly. She loved spending time with her family, enjoying everyone. She loved to shop and decorate her home for the seasons.

She is survived by her children, Brenda (Carl) Reich, Linda Norton, James (Betty) Gray, Shauna Grant; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Rosemary Tarran, Dale Nance and Kenny Petrelli; and her beloved fur baby, Abbe.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home with Pastor Clint Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
