Mary Margaret Prinzavalli, 82, passed away peacefully at 9:07 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Delmar Gardens South Nursing Care Facility in South St. Louis, Missouri, after a long and difficult battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Born July 12, 1941, in Centralia, Illinois, Mary was the youngest of three children to Clarence E. Neville and May Sanders Neville. She grew up in Loami and Glenarm, Illinois, attending school at Ball Chatham Elementary and Glenwood High School, Chatham, Illinois, graduating in 1959.

Mary loved music and singing. She had a beautiful soprano voice and participated in several musicals and class plays throughout her academic career. She also participated in beauty and talent contests and won many awards.

Mary held several jobs during her lifetime. As a young woman living In Springfield, she worked as a dental assistant, then at Frye printing company, the State Journal Register and the State of Illinois Department of Financial Institutions. After moving to Taylorville, she worked for 20 years at Sangamon Card Company. After retiring from the card company, Mary worked as a receptionist and medical records clerk for Dr. Anthony Agatucci and Dr. Cynthia Day, and later for Sangamon Eye, both in Springfield. Her last job, and possibly the one she loved most, was with House To A Home Interiors, where she was able to use her decorator's talent to help customers finish their dream homes.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her husband Vito V. Prinzavalli of St. Louis, Missouri, originally from Springfield, Illinois; one son, Brian Anthony (wife, Brenda) of Henderson, Nevada; two daughters, Gina Marie of St. Louis, Missouri, and Margaret Ann of Miami, Florida; four grandchildren, Olivia Marie and Thomas Christopher of St. Louis, Ian William (wife, Beatrice) of Melbourne, Florida and Eve Elizabeth of Miami, Florida; her sister, Betty of New Berlin, Illinois; niece, Elizabeth (husband, EJ) of New Berlin; great-niece, Mercedes of Springfield, Illinois; and nephew, Peter of Chatham, Illinois.

A funeral service will be held at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home, 437 S. Grand Ave. West, Springfield, Illinois at 12:00 p.m., Monday, February 26, 2024. Burial immediately following at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

The family asks that any donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association for Alzheimer's disease research.
