SPRINGFIELD, IL – Mary L. Richbark, 65, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021.

She was born March 13, 1956, to James and Jeannine (Blessman) Richbark; both of whom preceded her in death.

Mary Lee or Bruse, as many friends and family called her, embraced her life with everything she had. She never backed down from a challenge and made a point to live the life she wanted. Mary had a free spirit and engaged with people from all walks of life. She loved her friends and family and she would do anything for the ones she loved. She had a fiery but fun personality that could light up a room. There was never a dull moment with Mary.

Mary held many types of jobs throughout her life. She was a waitress, bartender, party planner/decorator, mover, school bus driver, medical transport driver and dispatcher. She brought her creative sense of style to each job and always gave 100% no matter the job. She was passionate about helping others. She loved her two cats. She also loved music, especially classic rock and loved going to concerts. Her mantra was Tom Petty's, I Won't Back Down and she didn't. She gave it a good fight until the end. She will be greatly missed!

She is survived by her siblings, Anna Koontz, James (Linda) Richbark and Donna (Bill) Ferguson, stepchildren Danielle Ruffolo (Anthony) and Joe Dorau, nieces and nephews and grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 – 4 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Devereaux Heights, 2801 West Street in Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Animal Protection League, American Cancer Society and Ronald McDonald House.
