SPRINGFIELD – Maurie Garretson, 87, of Springfield passed away Friday, May 16, 2025, at Villa Health Care East.

Maurie was born to George Winford and Charlotte Evelyn Woods Leet. She married James Garretson in 1953 in Springfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; great-grand-daughters, Courtney and Alyssa Selinger; her brothers, George, Chuck and Rick; and her sister, Wilmeth.

Maurie retired from Memorial Medical Center after many years of service and then became a volunteer for several years.

She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Selinger Weisenborn (Jack) and Stacy Bricker (Donald); a sister, Janet Foraker (Andy Hayes); three grandchildren, Stephanie Familar (Manny), Justin Selinger (Tiffany) and Garret Selinger (Kelsey); three great-grandchildren, Emerson, Logan and Dylan; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Roger Grimmett officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Memorial Foundation or Animal Protective League.
