Melissa Lynn
Darr
Mar 9, 1969 — Aug 21, 2024
Alton
ALTON– With heavy hearts, the family of Melissa "Missy" Lynn Darr (Raymer), 55, announce her passing on Wednesday night, August 21, 2024, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.
She was born March 9, 1969, to Kenneth and Mathilda (Julino) Raymer; both of whom preceded her in death.
As a child, Missy had many friends and family members that cherished her; growing up as the baby of the family sure had its advantages, according to her sisters, but they always had each other's' backs; surviving the tumultuous terrain of childhood and adolescence together, with love and reckless abandon.
Throughout much of her adult life, Missy suffered from addiction, and it created a rift in her relationships with friends and family members alike; although she suffered silently for many years, a disease like that cannot remain hidden for long. Regardless of her afflictions, she continued trying to be a good person to/for those surrounding her life.
After two marriages, and two divorces, she was blessed with four beautiful children, whom she revered. Although she was not privileged enough to watch her children grow into the extraordinary and fierce adults they are today, she knew how resilient and capable they were. Watching from afar, celebrating their achievements in the umbra; now getting to keep watch over them from heaven, as she was of Catholic faith.
In her professional life, Melissa worked as a phlebotomist at Alton Memorial Hospital and later as a stay at home mom to her two youngest children. Her dream was to become a nurse, but fortune favored her as a parent, instead, and gave her new aspirations.
Melissa was a homebody, but spent her time giving unto others and making the best of each day.
Her passions were gardening, caring for animals, listening to music, quality time with loved ones, reading, outdoor adventures(when the weather was right), and watching Harry Potter films; a true fan.
Her idea of a perfect day was spent with sand between her toes, sunshine on her face, and the sound of waves crashing on the beach; In paradise, she gets to spend an eternity on that beach with her parents; what a glorious Nirvana.
She is survived by her four children, Mara Yocius, Kyle Yocius, Elijah Darr and Matilda Darr; her sisters, Pamela (Kieth) Warner, and Catherine (Michael) Patton; one niece; one nephew; one great-niece and one great-nephew.
