Springfield, Illinois - Michael J. Harris, 75, of Springfield passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Heritage Health Hospice.  He was born June 7, 1942, in Springfield, to JW and Helen Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and an infant brother.

Michael served in the US Army. He was employed by the Peabody Coal Mine and SMTD. He was a member of the VFW, the American Rifle Association and the NRA.  He loved animals and enjoyed long political discussions with friends.

Mike is survived by his brother, Paul (wife, Carol) Harris of Rochester, IL; sister, Kimberly; two nephews, Scott (wife, Kara) Harris of Carlinville, IL, and Justin Harris of Rochester, IL; 4 great nieces and 1 great nephew.
