SPRINGFIELD, IL – Morton W. "Bill" Spence IV, 70, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 26, 1951, to Morton W. Spence III and Shirley A. (Farley) Spence.  He married Sandra "Sami" Hofman-Rees on July 5, 2003, in Riverton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-daughter, Kristin Rees.

Bill retired from the City of Springfield. He enjoyed fishing, camping at Lake Taylorville, riding his Harley and hanging out with his friends and fur babies.

He is survived by his wife, Sami; son, Lance (Carla) Spence; step-daughter, Kelsey Rees (Caryn Shermetaro); grandchildren, Jessica, Katie and Kristen; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn (James) Schultetus; several nieces and nephews; and his puppies, Savannah and Sabrina.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Hanson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
