Myrlene A. Gordy, 89, of Springfield, passed away at her home Saturday, September 13, 2025.  Myrlene was born in in Lincoln, IL the daughter of Myrle and Eloise (Kilmartin) Handlin.  She married Donald H. Gordy in 1952; he preceded her in death.

Surviving are three sons, Donald (wife, Kathryn) Gordy of Celebration, FL, Danny Gordy and Shawn (wife, Stacie) Gordy of Springfield; two grandsons, Jacob and Joshua Gordy of Springfield; one sister, Doris Mourning of Springfield; one brother-in-law, George Gordy; two sisters-in-law, Mary Gordy and Sherry Handlin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert, and James Handlin.

Myrlene retired from the Department of Alcohol and Substance Abuse (DASA).  She knew her way around a kitchen, and she hosted large, holiday meals.  Some family favorites were noodles, rolls, pies, and caramels. She was an avid reader, watched for the wrens and hummingbirds in the spring, looked forward to football season and loved yellow roses.

Family will receive friends from 10:00am to noon on September 27th, 2025, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home, 437 South Grand Ave., Springfield IL.  A private graveside service will be held at Berea Christian Cemetery in Niantic on October 20th, 2025.
