SPRINGFIELD – Myrna Kay Madison, 76, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

Myrna was born December 15, 1949, to Augustus and Cleona (Woolery) Phelps, both of whom preceded her in death. Myrna was also preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn; and brother, Michael. Myrna married Karl Madison on February 14, 1976, in Chicago, Illinois.

Myrna retired from Horace Mann Insurance Company as Vice-President of Human Resources. Myrna enjoyed reading and watching game shows. Myrna also enjoyed watching sports, especially watching her son play basketball and spending many evenings watching basketball with her husband. As a friend of Bill W. Myrna helped many and was a mother to all throughout the community.

Myrna is survived by her husband, Karl; son, Karl A. A. Madison; grandson, Kash Madison; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial gathering will be held from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home.

A Celebration of a Recovered Life will be held from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the Easy Does It Club, 514 North Walnut, Springfield, IL 62702. Bring your favorite memory!
