SPRINGFIELD – Patricia L. McAuley, 85, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2023, at St. John's Hospital.

She was born July 31, 1937, to Oscar and Dorothy (McEuin) Castleberry. She married Glenn D. McAuley in 1961. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; son-in-law, Steven Schlemm; brother, David Castleberry; and sisters, Shirley Gardner and Dorothy Castleberry.

After retiring from the nursing profession, Patricia worked as a tax preparer at H&R Block and later Federated Funeral Directors. She attended Rochester First Baptist Church and was a member of the U of I Home Economics Extension. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She loved listening to Blake Shelton and watching the Voice. She also enjoyed watching the Nature Show on PBS and the Hallmark Channel. She cherished the time spent with her family.

She is survived by her children, David G. McAuley and D. Glenna Schlemm; grandson, Ian Schlemm; brothers, James, Dale, Arvel and Raymond Castleberry; sisters, Rhonda Castleberry, Mary Guinn and Viola Atchley; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2023, at Roselawn Memorial Park, with Pastor Gary Sheets officiating.
