Patty Sue
Lewis
Jul 8, 1936 — Dec 12, 2023
Berlin
Patty Sue Lewis (Reed), 87, lovingly known to everyone as "Momma" passed away peacefully at her home in Berlin, December 12, 2023. She was surrounded by her family and friends in the week prior to passing.
Momma was born July 8, 1936, in Hamilton County, Illinois to Laymon and Elsie Reed (Hunt). Patty had a special childhood traveling around with her family on many adventures. Her dad, Laymon, documented the many trips with his movie camera and because of that, our families can enjoy the movies for years to come. Patty also was privileged to have a musical family. Holidays were special with Laymon playing music either on the piano or mandolin and the siblings singing. It was a very magical time.
Patty loved her family with all her heart. She loved watching her grandson race, either being at the racetrack or watching online or on TV. She enjoyed watching her garden grow and planting her flowers. She just wanted to be outside sitting on her deck or on her golf cart enjoying the warm summer day.
Patty was mostly a homemaker later in life but also cared for the elderly in the community. She was a member of the Historical Society and loved researching her family history and the old West. She was also a member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association with her previous husband, Marvin Lewis. They enjoyed many miles traveling through the country.
She will be greatly missed by all that knew her and her family will always cherish the many memories.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a niece, Donna Adams (Hicks).
Surviving are her previous husband, Marvin Lewis of Salisbury; her only child, Renee (Steve) Kennedy of Berlin; granddaughters, Tamara Monnier (partner, Mike Hill) of Loami, Christina (Ben) Harmening of Athens and Samantha Kennedy of Petersburg; great-grandsons, Brandon (Mikala) Sheppard of Berlin, Kace Donaldson of Loami and Colten and Brayden Harmening of Athens; and great-great-grandchildren Jase, Addison and Baylor Sheppard. She will also be greatly missed by her grand-dog, Bear, who visited her daily.
She is also survived by her brothers, Roger (Joyce) Reed of Rushville, Rodney (Nellie) Reed of Howe, OK, Carmelitta (Gary-deceased) Adams of Round Lake and Beverly (Bill) Jones of Waverly.
A celebration of life with family and friends will be held in the Summer at her residence.
