SPRINGFIELD, IL – Paul R. Thompson, 86, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born December 29, 1934, to Timothy and Crystal (Hudson) Thompson. He married Judith Forner on August 21, 1965, in Industry, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard.

Paul was a US Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was the former owner/operator of Thompson Oil Company, Industrial Chemical Company and Pay-Tel of Illinois. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, American Legion, VFW and was proud to have gone on the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight. Paul volunteered at Kumler Food Pantry. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.

He is survived by his wife, Judith; children, Randy Thompson, Julia Thompson, Tim (Mary) Thompson, Kurt Thompson and Emily Thompson (Jeff Curry); grandchildren, Luke, Reed, Nicole, Daniela, Dylan, Clay and Tyler; great-grandchild, Cristian; and a nephew.

A private family service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home and may viewed live here: Paul Thompson Funeral Service

Reverend Mary Ellen Sharp will officiate. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
