SPRINGFIELD – Pearl Smith, 80, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023, at his home.

He was born December 6, 1942, to Calvin Alexander and Eva Larue (Colburn) Smith. He married Barbara Booker in Springfield on September 29, 1972. She preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by a son, Carl G. Smith; and siblings, Alfred, Ethel, Frances, Lewis, Charlie, Carl, Jim, Ed, Edna and Grace.

Pearl was a laborer for Truman L. Flatt and Sons, and was a member of Local 477 for 56 years. He enjoyed dancing and making others laugh with his great sense of humor. He loved to watch car races and driving stock cars.

He is survived by his daughter, Becky Rokita; grandchildren, Braden, Callie and Brant Rokita and Leslie Smith; great-grandson, Waylon; and several nieces and nephews.

Per his wishes, no services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a military organization of the donor's choice.
