SPRINGFIELD – Raymond Lee Young, 61, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024, at his home.

He was born August 9, 1962, to Ralph Leroy and Karen (Gillard) Young. He married Kelli Rhoades on December 5, 1987 in Springfield. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harold and Elizabeth Gillard; brother, Richard "Tuba" Young; and granddaughter, Deane Carson Young.

Raymond was previously employed by Horace Mann for 20 years, St. John's Hospital for 12 years and Springfield School District 186. He enjoyed bowling, playing softball and watching sprint car racing. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks fan.

He is survived by his wife, Kelli; sons, Jace Peyton-Young (partner, Dawn) and Seth (Brenna) Young; daughters, Kendra (Eric) Kornack and Rebekah Young; mother, Karen (Robert) Schmidt; grandchildren, Carson Allen, Gavin, Ryan, Austin and Dylan Kornack, Koty Casson, Ryken Call, Paisley, Seamus, Vada and Bexlie Young; and a nephew, Jeremy Young.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2024, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home with Bishop David Bridges officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
