SPRINGFIELD – Rebekah S. (Flatt) Maddox Brown, 71, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023, at her home.

She was born January 10, 1952, to Charles and Mariella (Knox) Flatt, both of whom preceded her in death.

Rebekah was a graduate of Springfield Southeast High School and Lincoln Land Community College. Her nursing career spanned 40 years, including 17 years with the Illinois Department of Corrections. She was an Elvis Presley fan, enjoyed reading and watching the Food Network and Game Show Network. She loved animals and was a supporter of the Animal Protective League. She cherished the time spent with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Colebar; grandson, Brandon Colebar; siblings, Mary Kay Ramsey, Barney Flatt and Betsy Mackey; and several nieces and nephews.

Per her wishes, no services will be held.
