Obituary

Reverend Wilson Douglas, 98, who preached for 80 years, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022, at his home.

He was born July 27, 1923, to John Wilson and Zora (Harvell) Douglas, Sr. He married Iva Palmer on September 10, 1947, in Birmingham, Alabama and she preceded him in death. He later married Ruth Angel on December 7, 1969, in Caldwell, Idaho and she preceded him in death. Also preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers; four sisters; and son, John Wilson Douglas III.

Reverend Douglas was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II. He was the pastor of Wesleyan Holiness Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Helen Hadix; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2022, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home Reverend Jason Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery.

The family extends a special invitation to all children who attended Wesleyan Holiness Church Sunday school to attend the visitation and funeral service.
