SPRINGFIELD – Richard L. Willhoit, 72, crossed over to the other side at 4:20 a.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023, at his home.

He was born June 5, 1951 to Richard A. and Virginia (Hampton) Willhoit. He married Deborah Sue Conant on September 7, 1991, in Springfield. She preceded him in death in 2013. He also was preceded by his parents; brother, Jim Willhoit; nephew, James Conant; and brother-in-law, Lloyd Conant.

Richard was a member of Springfield First United Methodist Church. He was an ANSAR Shriner and active with Walk to Emmaus, Promise Keepers, and jail ministry. He enjoyed painting and loved playing games, especially card games. He loved current electronics.

He is survived by his daughter, Christina Hammer; grandchildren, Jessica, Joe Bourland, Colton Hammer, and Kaylee Hammer; great-grandson, Roark; sister, Peg Smith; brother-in-law, Dave (Barb) Conant; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Springfield First United Methodist Church with Reverend Justin Snider officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
