SPRINGFIELD – Robert Michael Grenda, 55, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at his home.

He was born in Danville on August 28, 1968, to Dr. Robert T. and Beverly Jo (Long) Grenda. He married Ilana Schmidt October 3, 1998, in Springfield.

Michael was a 1986 graduate of Jacksonville High School. He was employed by the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations. One of his greatest passions was being a scareactor for the Rochester Lions Club Boo Crew Haunted House.

He is survived by his wife, Ilana; his daughter, Carolyn; mother, Beverly; sisters, Diana (Joe) Roth and Deborah (Bill) Handel; brother, Patrick (Julie) Grenda; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home, Springfield, IL. A Time of Sharing will begin at 7 p.m. following the visitation.  To watch live, please CLICK HERE A private family burial will be at a later date.
