SPRINGFIELD, IL - Ronald Daniel Tennant, 79, passed away at his home on May 20, 2021, surrounded by his family.

He was born May 2, 1942, the son of Lott Daniel Tennant and Frances "Betty" Jean Stein in Caseyville. He married Grace Esther Orme on December 17, 1966. She preceded him in death on March 14, 2008. He married KayAnna Gaerte on February 21, 2009.

Ronald had many jobs in his lifetime. He was a military veteran. He was a member of the United States Air Force for 6 years. Later, he joined the Illinois Army National Guard and retired after 26 years of service. He worked for SMTD driving buses around town. He also worked for the Secretary of State motor vehicles.

Ronald was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a Scout Troop Leader for many years with Troop 214 of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ronald loved to play the clarinet and was a member of the Capital Area Band for many years. He loved watching baseball and was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Grace; infant sister, Sharon Jean Tennant; and family cat, Hitch.

He is survived by his current wife, KayAnna; daughters, Lucretia, Mary and Danielle Tennant of Springfield; sister, Carolyn Scurlock of Licking, MO; half-brothers, Ed Tennant of Nebraska and Robert Creasy of Wisconsin; half-sister, Lisa Pace of Wisconsin; aunt, Clara (Pat) Shaw of Wisconsin; granddaughters, Elizabeth (David) Black of Utah and Amber Cogdal of Springfield; great-grandchildren, Jason Moore of Buffalo and Grace and Ashlyn Black of Utah; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2021, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
