SPRINGFIELD, IL - Ronald P. Walsh, Sr., 84, passed away November 2, 2017, at home. Ron was born May 30, 1933, in Springfield, the son of Paul J. and Dorothy (Maxwell) Walsh.
Ron went to Springfield schools. He was a Korean War Veteran who was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Ron married Anna Louise Hoffman on July 4, 1963.
Ron was a retired union carpenter who was proud of his work, which included work on the Forum 30 (now the Wyndham Springfield City Centre), the Prairie Capital Convention Center (now the BOS Center), and the power plant. He was also involved in the real estate community as a real estate agent and property manager.
Ron was an avid supporter of his children's athletic events, including coaching little league. Ron was a friend of Bill W. for many years.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Paul J. and Dorothy Walsh, and his sisters, Paula Jean Walsh and Patricia Walsh Arnold.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; their five children, Bridget Walsh-Stone, Ronald Walsh, Jr., Mollie Langley (husband, John), Dorothy Walsh Ripka (husband, Jason), and James Walsh; brother, Thomas Walsh; sister, Judith Walsh; eight grandchildren, Maxwell Stone, Mick Stone, Allex Langley, Willa Langley, Lillian Ripka, Austin Walsh, Claire Walsh and Samantha Walsh; nephews, Tom Walsh and Paul Walsh; and nieces, Jennifer Hammer and Kelcee English.
Memorial Mass: 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 6, 2017, at Blessed Sacrament Church.
