SPRINGFIELD – Sara B. Matherly, 44, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025.

She was born September 22, 1980 to Dennis and Donna (Edwards) Matherly. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Levi J. Mejia.

Sara loved books and enjoyed reading and writing. She enjoyed comedy and memes and loved to spend time making her children laugh and smile. She was very kind and generous, always willing to lend a helpful hand or word of advice to those that she cared about. She loved boosting others up when they felt low. She took pride in her work ethic, while always remaining humble. She was always there for her friends and children when they needed her no matter what. She collected dreamcatchers and Pokémon and loved to try out new recipes.

She is survived by her children, Arianna Matherly, Damian Martin, Anezka Lazar and Declan Joseph Lee Matson; stepdaughter, Cheyenne Treat; grandchildren, Liam Collins, Landyn Matherly, Rhylynn Lazar and Romeo Poindexter; and brother, Lucas Matherly.

A memorial gathering will be held from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home and all are welcome.
