Obituary

RUSHVILLE, IL – Sherry G. McGee, 63, formerly of Springfield, passed away on May 23, 2022, at Rushville Nursing Home.

Sherry was born in Springfield, IL on August 29, 1958, the daughter of the late James and Norma McGee.

Sherry graduated from St Cabrini Grade School and Springfield Southeast High School.  She worked at many places during her life. She worked in the gift shop at St John's Hospital and volunteered at the Central IL Breadline. She babysat for many of her nieces and nephews often, whom she loved with all her heart. She also took responsibility for getting some of them to church on Sundays. She also had housekeeping jobs.

Sherry was the primary caregiver for her dad in his last years at home. She cooked his meals, cleaned house, and helped keep him independent as long as possible.

Some of her favorite hobbies were reading books, sending cards for every occasion and loved receiving them. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Sherry is survived by her siblings, Carol Cook (Steve Beckwith) of Springfield, Kim Houston (Cary) of Springfield, Jack McGee (Pamela Enno) of Springfield, Dennis McGee of Elkhart, Kristine Mack (Gary) of Freeburg, and William McGee of Kankakee; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
