SPRINGFIELD, IL – Shirley A. Bishop, 73, went home to the Lord on Friday, November 10, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O'Fallon.

She was born April 11, 1944, to Melvin and Gertrude (Voepel) Bishop.

Shirley graduated from Lanphier High School in 1962. She worked at St. John's Hospital as an EKG technician for 38 years, retiring in April 2011. She was a member of Third Presbyterian Church. She loved to make holiday pins, rugs, afghans, towels, Christmas stockings and many craft items. She loved to read and enjoyed the Covered Bridge Festival, Shipshewana, variety craft shows, going out to eat and eating ice cream.

She is survived by her sisters, Delores Sullivan and Mary (Ron) Smith; brothers, Ted (Karen) Bishop and Tony Bishop; sister-in-law, Kay Bishop; nieces, Lynda (Lance) Ott, Christie (Christine) Bishop, Amanda (Chris) VanAllen and Joanna Prieto; nephews, Johnny (Liz) Bishop, Wayne Bishop, William Bishop, Rick (Stacey) Holder, Jack Holder (Allison) and Timothy Bishop (Alexis); great-nieces, Alexandrea "A.J.", Amelia, Hattie, Kiersten, Jaymi, Barbara, Cheyenne, Nina, and Helena; great-nephews, Jordan, Nathan, Dalton, Brandon, Christian and Aaron; great-great-nieces, Jaylynn and Aurionna.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Helen Holder; brothers, Melvin "Ed" Bishop, Jr., Frank Bishop, John Bishop and Loren "Sarge" Bishop; and nephews, Michael Bishop and Doug "D.J." Smith.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Eby officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
