SPRINGFIELD, IL – Shirley Ann Wilson, 81, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Cedarhurst Senior Living Community. Her two beloved daughters, Shari Jacob and Stacy Wilson, were by her side.

Shirley was born July 27, 1940 to William and Ann (Achas) Gobble. She married Frederick "Tom" Wilson on August 20, 1960.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Gobble; her sister, Mary Jane Zappa; and her parents.

Shirley loved her family more than anything in the world. Her daughters referred to Shirley as their best friend. Her grandchildren loved coming over to her home for swimming and games of Scrabble. She loved to travel, most recently visiting a grandchild in Montana for days of hiking and outdoor fun.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Tom; two daughters, Shari (Jake) and Stacy; seven grandchildren, Ashley Jacob, Alex (Missy) Gee, Danielle Jacob (Devin Smith), Gabby Gee, Kelsey (Pat) Abram, David Jacob (Hannah Reller), and Emily (Daniel) McCurdy; and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Abram, Tessa Gee, and Finley Abram.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Aloysius Church on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at 10 AM. Private burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Animal Protective League in Springfield, IL.
