ROCHESTER – Steven E. Cox, 76, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

He was born September 8, 1948 to Ralph and Thedelma (Gray) Cox. He married Ruth Eddington on September 13, 1969 at Rochester Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth "Butch" Cox; and sisters, Sylvia Chezem and Pam Nevins; niece, Melissa Cox; and, nephew, David Frederick.

Steven was a US Army Veteran. He retired as the building superintendent for the Illinois Supreme Court. He enjoyed fishing with his son, going on cruises and visiting Las Vegas. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; children, Carrie (Tom) Bradley, Craig (Tracy) Cox and Corey (Stephanie) Cox; grandchildren, Kaylee, Kelsey, Brady, Lainey, Macey, Caden, Brayden, Kayli, Bryson and Faith; great-grandchildren, Nathan "Nate" and Emery; brother, Jim (Linda) Cox; sister, Penny (Bryan) Dunlevy; and several nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
