Terence Michael
Tracy
Jun 24, 1967 — Aug 13, 2024
Springfield
Terence Michael Tracy, 57, of Springfield, died on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
Terry was born on June 24, 1967, in Springfield, the son of John Eugene and Marian (O'Haver) Tracy.
He was a resident of Springfield his entire life graduating from Griffin High School in 1985. Terry received his bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois – Springfield. He began working for the State of Illinois in August 1994 in the Department of Innovation and Technology and worked there his entire career. Terry loved spending time with his friends, family and his dog. He always had a smile on his face and loved to joke and laugh. He was avid board game player and had a huge comic book collection. He also loved watching movies. He was a "gentle giant" and always had kind words for everyone. Although he struggled with health issues later in his life, he tried to be positive and persevere through the challenges. He loved his boxer dogs and had several throughout his lifetime and they were his loving companions. Terry, as his sister, Mary Sheila had done, was also known for making home baked cookies and brownies that he often made as a thank you to friends and neighbors. Terry believed that Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior and we believe he is strolling through downtown heaven with his dog, Croi, at his side, smiling and greeting everyone he meets.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Sheila Tracy and brother, Timothy Tracy.
He is survived by his sister, Eileen (Brad) Wisler of Albuquerque, NM; niece and nephew, Tracy (Kalvin) Davis and Brian Wisler, both of Albuquerque, NM; and great-nieces and nephew, Blair, Lyla and Harvey Davis.
Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home, Springfield. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. St. Patrick Cemetery in Godfrey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King School, 1920 Barberry Dr., Springfield, IL 62704.
