SPRINGFIELD, IL – Thelma Rose Daywalt, 76, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022, at St. John's Hospital.

She was born August 12, 1945, to John and Mabel (Newtson) Orme. She married Thomas Daywalt in 1981, in Washington, DC. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Herbert John Orme, and sisters, Bessie Marie Kacevicius and Grace Tennant.

Thelma retired from the Illinois Industrial Commission. She cherished time spent with her family. She loved ceramics and was a member of the Springfield Ceramics and Crafts Club. She also was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by her children, Carrie Balderson (Randy); Andy Torgerson, Melody Wilkinson (Todd) and Tom Daywalt; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
