SPRINGFIELD, IL – Thomas "Tom" R. Horrighs, 51, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at St. John's Hospital.

He was born May 30, 1969, in Springfield. He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet I. Horrighs-Moats; aunt, JoAnn Petty; uncle George and Paul Horrighs; and cousins, Davie Shinnebarger and Justin Petty.

Tom was employed by TDS Farms. He enjoyed junking, fishing, camping and riding ATVs. He especially enjoyed time spent with his grandsons and his dogs. He would do anything for anybody if he could, and loved to help the kids in the neighborhood.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Vaught; children, Ashley Richardson, Alishia Richardson-Horrighs, Scot Underwood and Courtney Candage; pseudo-children, Breanna and Keith Smith; grandsons, Noah Thomas and Kenneth Jr.; father, John Moats; brothers, Mark Horrighs and John Moats, Jr.; uncles, Steve Horrighs and Larry Petty; aunt, Cathy (David) Shinnebarger; beloved canine companion, Sapphire "Saffie"; lifelong best friend, Melissa Cooper; and several other extended family members.

Visitation will be held from 4 – 6 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home.
