SPRINGFIELD, IL – Wayne E. Van Hemert, 79, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 4, 1942, to Cornie and Johanna (Van Der Pol) Van Hemert. He married Louise "Lou" Brown on June 28, 1960, in Sully, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lou; parents; brother, Gerald Van Hemert; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Van Hemert; and grandson, Justin LaRoy Moyer.

Wayne was a truck driver for over 50 years and was currently employed as an attendant at Miss Kimmees. He enjoyed race cars, motorcycles, CB radios and had the "Gift of Gab."

He is survived by daughters, Jennifer (Walt) Moyer and Joleen (Jack) Booth; five grandchildren, Billy Priddy, Zachary (Rachel) Priddy, Jackie (Helena) Booth, Katie (Matt) Kelley and Josh (Amanda) Booth; seven great-grandchildren, Johnny, Patrick and Jacob Priddy; Cillian, Riley and Teagan Kelley and Juniper Booth; companion, Martha Reiter; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of a funeral service at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Gannar officiating.
