SPRINGFIELD – William Alvin Edwards, Sr. 86, passed away Monday, October 7, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 9, 1938 to Alvin G. and Hazel (Symons) Edwards. He married JoAnn Berger and they divorced. He married Marilyn Jones and they divorced. He later married Carol Gram in 1996. He was preceded in death by his son, William Alvin Edwards, Jr.

Alvin was a U. S. Navy Seabee veteran. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Euclid in Springfield, MIDCO in St. Louis, and several construction contractors in Springfield before starting his own business and subcontracting for Sankey Construction.  He retired in 2000. He loved antique tractors and motorcycles, (except Harleys). He was a member Vintage Iron Riders Motorcycle Club.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Joy Edwards, Lee Edwards and Michelle Edwards; grandchildren, Aaron Edwards, Devin Edwards, Orion Edwards, Rick Hanan, Jory Siebenmorgan, Reiner Edwards, Alan Edwards, Emily Foreman, Kaley Lutker and Maggie Stevens; 6 great-grandchildren; and brother, Glen Edwards.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Inurnment was in Rochester Cemetery.
