SPRINGFIELD – William R. Kennett, Sr. 85, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

He was born October 18, 1938 to Jewel H. and Beulah E. (Stanton) Kennett. He married Linda Bridgewater on June 28, 1958 in Springfield. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, Donnie and Danny Kennett; and sisters, Kathy Kennett, Barbara Randall and June Lamsargis.

Bill was a US Air Force Veteran. He worked for Housing and Urban Development as a real estate appraiser for 28 years and was a self-employed appraiser for 10 years. He was a member of South Side Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, William (Brenda) Kennett, Jr., Brenda Beitel and Brian Kennett; grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan and Miranda; great-grandchildren, Makayla and Jude; siblings, Gene, Jim and Bruce Kennett, and Sharon Faulkner; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 18, 2024, at South Side Christian Church. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 12 p.m. at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
