William "Bill" Michael Trinko was born on February 22, 1949 and departed us filled with the peace of the Lord on November 8, 2022, at the age of 73.

He was born in Chicago, son of Anthony and Alma Trusnik Trinko.  He attended St. Stephen grammar school and graduated from St. Rita High School.  Bill served honorably in the US Army from 1969 until 1972 including a tour in Vietnam.   After an honorable discharge, he had a diversified career.  He was employed at a bank, a women's shoe store, a flower shop, and retired from Dominick's after 25 plus years of faithful service. During the latter years of his employment with Dominick's, he was a dedicated caregiver for his mom.

Dad liked people. He liked telling jokes and trying to stump you with trivia and logic puzzles.  He played cards, Uno, chess, and pool, watched Jeopardy and Turner Classics.

He loved his White Sox and the city of Chicago, his hometown.  He loved showing me the museums and taught me how to play all the games he loved and appreciate the classic movies.

After he moved to Athens, he still enjoyed taking the train to see his sister Joann and their kids up in Chicago.  He called his brother Tony regularly and they would discuss the latest sports picks.   He loved talking on the phone to his family when he couldn't see them in person.

In Athens, he walked like he did in Chicago: to the library, the grocery store, the Dollar Store, getting a soda and watching a game at the bar, playing cards at the Legion with the Ladies and attending Bible Study on Wednesdays at Holy Family.  Bill attended his parents church, St. Stephens in Chicago and then Holy Family in Athens.  He was proud of his God, and proud of those who served God as Priests in the family. In his last days, he was comforted by all those who called him to express their love and to let him know that they were praying.  He marveled that Bishops in other countries were praying for him.

He was a glass half full optimist who loved his family and friends dearly.  He thought of others even when he himself was struggling.  He was checking on those that were in the hospital, in the path of a storm, or those facing difficult test results even while he himself had health concerns. He said remember no matter how bad you have it, someone else always has it worse.
He was faithful to God until the end.

He will be missed by his sister, Joann Trinko Jawor (David) and their two sons, Jason and Nicholas Jawor; his brother, Tony "Mario" Trinko (Barbara) and their two children, Matthew and Nicole Trinko; his daughter, Bonnie Trinko Roberts (Michael) and his granddaughter, Sarah; his cousins, his extended family, lifelong friends, and church families that all loved him.

He was preceded in death by his little brother, Anthony; his father, Anthony and his mother, Alma, as well as aunts, uncles, and friends.

Visitation will be held 11:30 a.m. until the time of a Funeral of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2022, at St. Leonard Church, 3318 Clarence Ave. Berwyn IL.

Additional visitation will be 9:45 am until Celebration of Life Service at 11:45 am Monday, November 21, 2022, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home, 437 S Grand Ave W, Springfield, IL.

Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Full Military Honors, 5063 Camp Butler Rd, Springfield, IL.
